What's New for 2023?
The Ford Escape continues its fourth generation into the 2023 model year with a mid-cycle refresh. It sports bolder styling, with a broader stance and more assertive front fascia, and an overhauled trim level roster, with new Active, ST-Line, and Platinum tiers. All models receive Ford's next-gen SYNC 4 infotainment system. And 13.2-inch infotainment and 12.3-inch digital gauge displays are now available as options.
Performance
The Ford Escape offers numerous powertrain options, allowing you to choose your preferred blend of performance, efficiency, and value. Base, Active, and ST-Line models come standard with a 1.5-liter EcoBoost three-cylinder making 181 horsepower and 190 pound-feet of torque. An 8-speed automatic transmission sends power to the front wheels. Or you can select all-wheel drive for improved all-season handling.
ST-Line Select, ST-Line Elite, and Platinum trims come standard with AWD and equip a 2.0-liter EcoBoost turbo-four with 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. Or, if efficiency is a high priority, you can get a 192-horsepower 2.5-liter hybrid mill as an option for Platinum models and all ST-Line variants.
Finally, the Ford Escape is available as a standalone plug-in hybrid trim making 210 horsepower. And with its impressive EPA-estimated 37-mile electric-only range, it's a great way to try out the EV lifestyle without fully committing to battery power.
Accommodations and Utility
The Ford Escape's cabin is attractive and inviting, with stylish design details, cozy seats, and ample headroom and legroom for all passengers. A sliding second row enhances versatility, allowing you to prioritize rear-seat legroom or expand storage capacity from 33.5 to 37.5 cubic feet. When an errand or adventure requires more storage space, the 60/40-split second row folds easily, expanding the cargo area to 65.4 cubic feet.
Abundant amenities are available to enhance your driving experience, including comforts and conveniences like:
- Heated, power-adjustable front seats
- Dual-zone automatic climate control
- Heated steering wheel
- Driver-position memory
- Hands-free liftgate
- Leather upholstery
- Wireless charging pad
- Panoramic sunroof
Infotainment and Safety Technology
For 2023, the Escape's previously optional 8-inch touchscreen moves to the base trim and upgrades to SYNC 4. This advanced infotainment system boasts faster performance, cloud-connected navigation, and over-the-air updates so that you always have access to the latest features. It also includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, giving you clutter-free and hands-free access to your contacts, streaming media, Google or Apple Maps, and more. If you want more screen real estate, the 2023 Escape offers a new 13.2-inch touchscreen as standard for ST-Line Elite and Platinum tiers and optional for ST-Line Select, ST-Line, and Active models. Base models are equipped with an 8-inch digital gauge cluster. However, you can get a fully customizable 12.3-inch instrument panel as standard for ST-Line Elite and Platinum or optional for Active and ST-Line Select.
While there's no replacement for staying alert behind the wheel, the Ford Escape provides enhanced confidence and convenience via standard Co-Pilot360™ technologies. No matter which tier your choose, you'll get driver aids like:
- Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking
- BLIS (Blind Spot Information System)
- Rear Cross-Traffic Alert
- Lane Keeping Assist
- Auto High-Beam Headlamps
Available driver-assist features include Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go, Evasive Steering Assist, Connected Built-In Navigation, a 360-degree camera, and Rear Cross Traffic Braking.
